Hi everyone. All kinds of new projects going on. Come see me and other local artists paint the town this weekend in Bradenton at the annual "Paint the Town" event and exhibition (two of my paintings will be on display at the ArtCenter Manatee, 209 Ninth Street West in Bradenton, FL April 14-May 6. Also many new books in the works. My beautiful daughter's, beautiful charitable book, "Jewish Memoirs" is in the process of being printed as we speak. I've also just finished my own two books, "Carmen and the Dying Daisy", a book about living and dying for children, and "The Spider in the Hat", a poem book asking, "Does the hat make the man or does the man wear the hat?" I'm having so much fun!

Ness, The Featherless Cockatoo by Alyssa Rudinsky, Illustrated my myself, just came out on Amazon and Barnes & Noble. B & N is donating some of the proceeds to the Humane Society of Broward County where Oscar, the real featherless cockatoo lives. Well, I've obviously been too busy to write posts lately. I've actually been writing children's books and illustrating other author's books. "Lift" by Robin Gordon, is on it's way to see if some lucky publisher chooses to publish it. It's so beautifully written and I love the way the illustrations came out! Also, The Adventures of Persey the Pig is out on Amazon this Week. I just sent out my daughter Cailey's Book, Tick Tock; The Sixty Second Break to a few publishers. It's hysterically funny and written with a really young, fresh voice, illlustrated by me in a funky way. I can't show you the unpublished ones from other authors yet because they're not mine to show before they're out but I also have two books currently making the publishing/agent circuit: Winter, and Why Are We Here. So, lots of work, not a lot of posts. Oh Well, you can't have everything!

Well of coarse there is a REASON you haven't heard from me in several months! I've been illustrating a wonderful new children's book for Robin Gordon which, sorry, as it is unpublished, you cannot see it yet. I have also been working on a book about my own sweet dachshund dogs which I have uploaded her for you to see. Will be getting back outside as soon as it's a little cooler though. Check out the puppy picks!

Ok so its practically the end of February and I haven't painted outside at all. That would be because I am freezing here, yes in Florida. But the seminar I'm taking is coming up in about a month so hopefully it will WARM UP! Anyway, will post more winter scenes.

Every week, I drive my daughter to her skating lesson at 8:15 and at 8:00 am I pass this beautiful reflection on the pond off the highway. I notice it every time. Finally got to paint it.

Just recovering from California trip. Petaluma Workshop with Camille Prezwodek was very interesting/informative. I actually got to paint still lifes and figures again which I haven't done since my Parson's days. She's all about color and the Cape Cod School of Art and I learned a lot. Hurricane Season is back and there have been storm bands in the Gulf for a week. The constant pounding on the sea wall call to me to capture, what? movement, power, balance, force? It's that moment in time again, so difficult to make time stand still.

Small, Smart and Sassy Summer Show

Went to Clearwater, FL this week to set up show that will run for a month at the Artist Cooperative Gallery on Cleveland Street in Clearwater. Come and see "Two Dogs Swimming", "Long Beach Shadows," or some of my smaller boat paintings among other TESA artist's work. Well, gotta go paint!

Sanibel Island

I went to Sanibel Island again last weekend, with my daughter. We got up at 5:30 am to collect shells with flashlights before anyone got up. I didn't get to paint but took photos of the sunrise. Here is a painting I did this week at home from one of the photos.

I love Fort Desoto. It's probably the only untouched place within a half hour from where I live and even though there's a beach and a snack bar, you can still find places along the road that seem deserted all along the causeway and small deserted vessels, tied up behind the trees.

Boy is it getting nice out. The first study I did was a blue boat that bounced around a lot and ended up in the trash. So I did a study of where the water meets the sand. That moves too but with a rhythm I can understand.

Still have our cabin in Lake Lure. What a beautiful place that is. Every time I see a reflection, I want to paint it. I think I need to have a "Reflections" show somewhere. I've posted a Florida Marsh Reflection I painted also.

Guess I'm into comparisons this month. Some paintings from South Carolina to compare with my CT paintings. Hilton Head was very private and hard to find spots. Although when found, the spots were incredible and the light sublime.

It's interesting that when I was in Tuscany last summer, my paintings really didn't pay too close attention to the architecture there. While in Rome, the architecture was everything. Here are some of my Montelcino paintings.

Wanted to post these photos from my Connecticut trip. Lyme, CT is such a beautiful place. Too bad I never noticed how beautiful Connecticut was when I was growing up there. I'd go back here to paint any day. The American Impressionist Museum there is really interesting also! The Lyme Art Society has some really terrific artists in it. The show at the Art Society was incredible. Here are a few of my plein air pieces from that week.
